Here we have Bongwater, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Bob Weir, and the Fabulous Pussywillows, all on one stage for a song, broadcast on National TV:
I love the band Bongwater, and this appearance on Night Music is a real treat. I like the fact that they brought together so many widely varied musicians for this (I doubt Bob Weir was their choice, but I could be wrong), including the Pussywillows, who are an odd story unto themselves (3 women from New Jersey doing bubblegum pop in 3-part harmony who somehow became the go-to gals for the weird music scene in NYC in the late 80’s).
This is an example of eclecticism gone right.
